I was driving around yesterday and happened across a garage with several nice looking foxbody stangs out front... I had to pull a U and see what was up, turns out they're all for sale, this place Speed's Auto Services buys them and fixes them up to resell. I'd never heard of them before, but apparently they've been doing it for about 6 months.
They had some very nice cars... 3 or 4 GT's, 3 verts, and a sweet black SVO. Most of the cars had 17" chrome Cobra R's, projector headlights, and some kind of aftermarket hood. They said all of their cars get new paint and upholstery unless they're already perfect. They definately all appeared to be at least solid 9's out of 1-10.
Of course I immediately fell in love with one of the cars, a gray GT (titanium frost I believe?), bone stock other the appearance mods, but completely immaculate... all new leather interior, even new foam in the seats, real working a/c and a sunroof. It felt more like sitting in a Lexus than sitting inside my bucket... I wished I could swap them for my car on the spot.
The one I was drooling over the most besides the SVO was this white GT with silver stripes, a Saleen wing, LX tails, Simmons wheels (!), and a "rolller motor" (I'm guessing they meant a stroker?), but it was an AOD. The cars are all very pricey though, I believe even the stockish gray GT was at least $7,xxx... so I guess I'll be keeping my car.
Between checking out their cars and seeing the ones that were at AFM the other day, I'm newly motivated to keep improving my own... I'll definately be fixing my a/c and getting new foam in my driver's seat, I couldn't believe how much more luxurious those two things made the car I was looking at compared to mine. And I can't stand looking at my car on stock wheels and suspension now... I was never a big fan of the Cobra R's, but after seeing them in person I can understand why they're so popular, the way they fill the wheelwells changes the whole attitude of the car... although I think I still want to go with Bullitts. I should really just stay away from nicer cars than my own, somehow it always leads to me spending money... anyone else notice that?
