anyone change to a lighter weight flywheel yet ?


looking for something for my autocrossing to get a bit more HP and rev time for the track.....anyone change their flywheel yet to a lighter weight stronger one ?



if you change the flywheel, can you stay with the stock clutch ?

adding a light weight flywheel will fell like 15-20 hp gain, from what I understand this does not show up on a dyno. All it does is allow the engine to rev faster and easier. Also you will be able to use less brake after matching revs (Downshifting).

ya, thats what i want to go for.....faster rev's to downshift, and get throught the rpm's quicker....


know of any aftermarket flywheel's yet ??? and can you just replace the flywheel ?

I know Syn-R-G has a lighter flywheel kit. I can recommend a place to contact in order to get one. Extreme Mustang @ 818 883 8836 and speak to Sean. Tell Him Chris from B&M referred you and you will get the best price. I believe he is a dealer for them.Hope this helps

I replaced my upgraded Centerforce aluminum for a new 8 bolt Centerforce Aluminum due to a Cobra crank upgrade. It only has about 2000 miles on it if you're interested. PM or email me.

Replace the stock unit with an aluminum one along with an aluminum driveshaft and you will see a major improvement. Trust me!

I've heard it is a little more difficult to drive with a light flywheel. I definately want to get a aluminum driveshaft and not sure on the flywheel.

What say you?

I believe SPEC makes light weight clutchs and flywheels for 2005+ mustangs...

i have a spec alu. in mine and the driveability has not changed ,you can also use a six bolt out of a 04 back gt you just have to use a spacer behind the slave cylinder because the 05 flywheel is thicker (also heaver)

I had one on my sold E36 M3. I ran BMWCCA and Porsche CCA. It made matching revs and heel toe much easier. www.roeblingroad.com.

It is definitely worth the $$$ this is a great mod.

Hey guys I’ve been lurking in on this thread, I’ve been wondering about this mod myself. I noticed over at RPM outlet they have a Billet Aluminum Flywheel and clutch kit by HAYS. Anybody know if HAYS is a good brand to go with? If not who would you recommend?

I had Walt at Promotion tell me not to go with aluminum unless you have 600hp. Justin Burcham said "bull$h++" I took Justin's advice and I'm very happy with it. No driveability problems whatsoever, even while driving completely normal.
