Anyone ever wax under their car and in the engine bay?

I'm just curious because this one guy that lives by me waxes underneath his mustang to keep it from rusting. He also does the engine bay to keep it shiny and keep dirt off.

They both make sense but i don't know if they actually serve their purose.

Yeah, I wax my floor pans, frame rails-but I clean them, then polish them, then wax them. Also inside the door jambs, under the hood, trunk-and exposed paint. I don't drive my car in the winter though....

I wax the underneath of mine too and the engine bay is spotless. I show my car a lot.
