I'm thinking of ditching the RPM in favor of the Holley. Look like the bling factor will be out the window now. Anyone have one they could post pics of?

Joe, FWIW, I've read somewhere that the Holley matches up very poorly to AFR heads....

I want to say either tmoss or Troy said it. I'll see if I can find it...

I believe Troy has the Holley on AFR 185's and said it matches perfectly. It's the Edelbrock lower that's a problem. I've matched the lower (not with the gasket) with the 185's and from my info the lower will need to be hogged out pretty good to match.

the performer lower didnt even come close to matching up.....major porting of the lower is necessary.

Ed curtis has said a few times online that the holley lower doesn't match well with afr ports. It needs welding and porting to match ideally. Try asking Gary from stangtuning what he did to match his holley to the afr 185's.

If that's the case Mike I'll send my lower to Tmoss for porting.

Ed has told me that the RPMII lower doesn't match up well at ALL with the AFR heads. My performer lower matched up PERFECTLY with my 165's.

My holley needed porting/welding cause one runner flowed 30cfm less than the others.

Really? That is interesting info. Do you remember which runner it was? 30cfm seems like a lot, especially in a boosted car! That could really lean a cylinder out.

My suspicion is one of the fronts - the Holley SMII has the dog-leg design too, just to a lesser extent.

Yah front drivers..whatever runner that is #5? I just woke up sorry.
Basically he couldnt port it out enuff to make the flow needed because the metal is to thin in that area, so he builds the metal up with weld, and then can port it out from the inside much further, so it matches.

Just to make sure my thinking is correct, wouldnt a cylinder that didnt get as much air as the others make that 1 cylinder run rich since it had more fuel than air compared to the rest of the cylinders?

Or am i totally confused in how to think about it

No, you are right Nate. I made a mistake and thought Chris said it flowed 30cfm more. It would make for a rich cylinder and not a lean one. Thanks for catching that, I don't want to spead the wrong info. OOPS!
