Actually it says

"Mounting Surface Required
21 1/2" x 17 1/2" x 4 3/16" "

That's 4 3/16's thick. Not much more room.

Read the description on it:

* Provides full radiator coverage for many vehicles
* One piece, rugged nylon shroud
* Shrouded fan creates 45-50% higher heat transfer than cage fan of same performance
* Rigid bracket mounting system, no thru core mounting
* High torque, high RPM electric motor
* Adjustable thermostat, A/C relay and manual switch connection
* Instalation instructions with wiring diagrams in English, French and Spanish
* Provides consistent cooling, regardless of engine RPM

How would someone that speaks/reads French or Spanish know the instructions are also in said languages; the description is written in English.

i have run the black magic for 3 years now. they used to advertise that 300 hp max, that is a crock. i also have a be-cool 1 inch 1 row radiator. the car is now a dedicated track car but i have driven this setup on the streets. i have never had any cooling problems with 580hp at the flywheel. i have never hooked up the thermostat switch, i just wired it so i can turn it off and on by a switch inside. it pulls a pretty good amt of heat while car is shut off in the staging lanes, just make sure you have a good battery and charging system.

I just bought a Proform fan. Its the exact same fan as the Flex-A-Lite Black Magic, right down to the instructions. They're word for word. Obviously the same manufacturer. Black Magic fan? $219. Proform? $130.

They may be the same manufacturer but when I bought my black magic I had both on the counter and the proform just seemed flimsy and not as good of quality. Also on the box the black magic had MADE IN U.S.A, While the Proform had MADE in CHINA. So take it for what it is...

I just bought my Proform... I have also heard they are the same... As Americans, we demand the lowest prices possible... that's the reason for outsourcing. If a China man made my fan, that's fine and dandy with me! He just saved me 100 bucks vs the BM because he only makes 50 cents an hour!

Maybe the box was made in china... hehe
I am in the market for an electric fan too with the dc controle module which everybody seems to love. I was planning on getting a black magic but it seems like there are a bunch of people that have the dual fans setup. Is there any real bennifit over the black magic? I have a Griffin 31x19 so I have plenty of space to work with. Would it be better to get a dual setup in my case? I would like to have the most efficient cooling I can get... for a practical price. Thanks for any suggestions.
