I bought my 2000 GT brand new in February of 2000, so it is just over 5 years old, and I absolutely baby my car. After my car being 3 1/2 years old, I started noticing that the headlights were getting hazy looking and starting to crack and peel. Now, at 5 years old (52,000 miles), it is even worse to the point where they need to be replaced. Has anyone had to replace their's yet? Does anyone else think that this is ****ty that we are already having to replace stuff like this?

I found a few on ebay that are SAE and DOT approved. They are aftermarket so I am wondering how they fit. I am sure they are fine but if you have bought some, let me know how you like them.

It just makes me mad that I have to spend my money on this. I mean come on...after 3 years, the headlights need to be replaced?? That is CRAP!

rjstaaf...4 sets, that is crazy! I hope Ford chose a new headlight vendor on the 05's!

I would much rather spend this money on a mod anyway...not replacing something stupid like a headlight.
:D

Meh, it happens, plastic fades and gets hazy. BUt look at it in a positive way, now you'll have the nice smoked headlights on your Black GT instead of those ugly 99-00 clear ones.

Very true! I am kind of looking forward to getting rid of the clear lights. I have always liked the smoked ones better!

If you don't mind spending a little time and elbow grease there is a GREAT write up in the sound and shine section of the forums that will get them looking brand new again!

Yeah, I just found the article I think...

That is interesting. I wonder if it would help mine. In addition to mine looking cloudy, I also have like a peeling thing that is happening on the sides. It almost looks like it has a clear coat finish on it and it is peeling. I just wonder if this process would help that too?? I guess it is worth a shot.

least you guys don't have a pre 99+! ours even fog like hell on the inside...not to mention the fog lights on my car look so horrible and yellow!Hopefully I can get the mosked head lights to compliment the black beast :)

I went by a write-up similar to this and went from this:

To this:
Liteafter.webp

...but I still want to get some new ones. Still nowhere near "brand new" looking.
