Anyone ran a New Dodge Challenger yet?

I'm not seeing them on the roads around here. The local Dodge dealer has had two R/T's and a regular v-6 sitting out in front for 6-8 weeks and they still haven't sold even with discounts and employee pricing.

The Challenger wasn't quite the 'instant sales hit' they were predicting, at least around here.

Last November there were 3 brand new Challengers drag racing at our local dragstrip. 2 R/T's and an SRT-8 that was modified (CAI, suspension). That SRT-8 was plagued with traction issues and ran low 14's, but his trap speed was around 108-109 mph in the 1/4 mile, which tells me he should have been able to run high 12's if he could have hooked up.

Reason I asked was........My brother in law just bought a Orange Challenger 5.7 Hemi RT. It's going to be staying in my gararge till he has one built. It's moving in this Saturday :) He wants to run my Stang....I just hope he's not to dissappointed. :) Power to weight ratio :)

I've read on plenty of forums that S197 GT's with the usual bolt-ons are spanking SRT8's.

With bolt-ons and gears on a Mustang, they are push-overs if they are stock. They look great, but they are heavy-weights.

I saw a V6 one for the first time yesterday.........:notnice:

The SRT8 with traction may be some trouble, but those bastards are heavy, a clean 600lbs heavier than our cars. That means a slower car with bigger traction issues. Now, I'd bet a full bolt-on challenger with 315 DRs would post some very nice 1/4 ETs, otherwise I'd bet Brian's recount is fairly normal for challenger owners.

I've seen two RT's on the roads here Nor. Cal. Raced one and absolutely demolished him from a 30mph roll. Was reasonably close from a dig but I had about 3/4ths a car on him at 100mph and was spinning the tires pretty bad. Need some new ones =(

I took a SRT 8 on 95 a couple of weeks ago. yes I know street racing is bad, but the guy kept screwing with me. So from 40 pulled, and I basically left him there and stayed there in 3rd and 4th. I was dropping off by the time I was hitting 95+ I was already a length ahead..point proven.

Sig has mods. Well most of them :p

Stock vs stock, a Challenger R/T will be a driver's race against an S197 GT, while the Challenger SRT-8 will beat an S197 GT most every time.

Sure, the Challenger is heavy, but they look great and perform pretty well. Gotta give 'em kudos even if none of us will ever likely buy one.

13.5 at 109 is what car and driver pulled off. with that trap speed they should be low 13s, but with the car being 600 lbs heavier, i guess that might be why they have that ET. every hundred lbs or so is a tenth give or take. so give them a 600 lb diet, they should book.

13.5 at like 104 is what car and driver pulled off in our cars i believe.
so it should be pretty damn close with good driving on both ends.
