Anyone replace their own fuel pump

How in the heck do you remove the fuel lines from the fuel sending unit? I have the spring release tool but I dont see how to use it, please help.

the white disconnect tool needs to slide in between the locking mechanism. it takes some effort to get it in all the way, but once it is, the lines should come apart. there shouldn't be any springs involved...
