Anyone using the FMS steel blowproof bellhousing?

Just so I know im set for enlarging the hole to 1/2", do I just take a 1/2" bit and open them up or is their a better way?

How much is an extended fork and should I do it? I probably will. I think im set on using the mcleod dual friction clutch kit with a king cobra PP and a hd t/o bearing. Its stronger than the regular mcleod single disk and not too much more. Im gonna make myself a list on EVERYTHING I need and order it up probably this week.

Mike, I didnt know about the 1/2 bolts until I had the friggen thing ready to go in. I didnt have a 1/2 drill at my disposal at the time so I just took a 1/2 drill bit and used a set of vice grips and did it manual style (twisted the drill through by hand), worked fine. I re-used my stock clutch fork, and am still using it Why you so anti spec? I had the stageII, and now the stageIII, and love em both, matter-o-fact my stageII with over 5k of hard miles looked brand new when it came out of the car, it's now in a friends car.

Its not that im anti spec, I just like being different and not jumping on internet bandwagons (not saying you, but others who have no experience yet recommend things, ya know?) Plus, it seems that they hit hard, but im not suure exactly which stage it is that does that.

My dad is an electrician and I have acess to all sorts of drills and sawzalls and stuff. Damn, you used vice grips and a bit LOL!

LOL, do whacha gotta do right

FWIW, not pushing the subject. Most people I have talked to that push the spec stuff have it. Look at Rick, and Perky. StageII would be perfect for you and it's an awesome street clutch. You're choice, as I said, not pushing it.

I just got the tko today. cant wait to get this bitch installed! I think im basically set on what I need to order. My last concern is the extended fork. Im gonna order one, but where can I get them? Im also gonna buy a new starter from pa performance. My car wouldnt start today and it turned out the problem was a hot spot on the starter, we had to hit it w/ a hammer to start it. I figure i'll change it since its gotta come out anyway. Whats another $135 this far into it I figure I saved about $600 buying the tranny and shifter used and doing the labor myself, so i'll spend that money on parts

Any other tips?

Alright, I just ordered everything I need. I went with the mcleod clutch and they substituted the fms HD pressure plate for a king cobra PP for less pedal pressure. I believe its the mcleod dual friction disk. FMS blowproof bell, fms aluminum driveshaft with 31 spline yoke, 21T red speedo gear, new pilot bearing, new rear main seal, a new PA performance mini starter (i have a stock mini starter with my 92 but it had a hot spot and sometimes needs to be tapped to start) and a prothane tranny mount.

I didnt order new PP and flywheel bolts. Should I? I also gotta get some GM syncromesh fluid but i'll buy that local.

I might pull the tranny out this weekend and if tis easy, grind the welds off the X member. Anyone havea pic of where exactly I gotta grind?

Oh, I didnt order an extended fork with the steel bell, d&d said they never used one with them. Should I do it anyway?

One more thing, does the mcleod clutch kit come with an alignment tool? If not, Timmy if you read this, could I borrow yours?

I didnt get one either. I set mine up with the motor out of the car, so i just stuck the tranny in to line it all up.

Does anyone know if any alignment tool for a fox mustang will work? I have a 26 spline disk and i'm not sure if I need a different tool? My friend has one I could borrow from a regular t5 clutch he had. If not, im gonna be fucgin pissed!!

try and get one from a gm clutch disk. Your just going to have to do something with the part that goes into the pilot bearing. Might have to wrap some to tape around it or soemthing.

I doubt the stock ones gonna work. I will try autozone and pep boys this weekend if I have time.

The stocker will work with a little tape on it.. Main purpose to the get it aligned for making it easier to get the trans in.. When we haven't had the 26 spline tool we just wrap a little tape on a stocker...

Also SPEC clutches come with the correct install tool..
