Just took mine off this week. The only problem i dont get is that people say to leave the top part of the bracket on the car since it holds the pinion snubber stop plate. But i dont see how you can attach it without having the dogbone there also. here is the pic:
If you want to keep the pinion snubber top plate bracket thingy, then you have to get shorter bolts. I believe the threads are 3/16-18. I got ones that were 2 1/2 inches long, and they were long enough to go thru the housing and the threaded clips.

I've read that it is there as a vibration damper for the stock drivetrain, meaning the steel driveshaft and the stock gears 3.27's. If you changed your gears and/or driveshaft you can supposedly ditch the weight.
