I got the flywheel connected to the converter so the trannys sittin up just fine but i cant get the bellhousing bolts to reach the block... it almost seems like there is somethin in the way cuz i cant get the tranny to go in any farther

The converter needs to slip farther into the tranny... Then it should work out.

Are you re-installing the same tranny,or installing a different one/I had that problem instaiing a different tranny,then finally realized,I had a dowel pin stuck in the tranny,and it was hitting the one in the block and keeping the tranny from going on.Cure.....removed the dowel from the tranny,everything was smooth.Just another idea.

If nothing is obvious, like the dowel, Probably stand the trans up on the tailhousing, slowly turn the converter while wobbling it somewhat to engage it fully into the pump... Like mentioned, it's probably not all the way into the pump...

Your problem is the converter isn't fully seated in the tranny pump. The converter needs to go in the tranny and boith go in together. Take the converter off the flywheel, and install it on the trans. Slide the converter in while spinning and you will fell it slip into place. Then install both as one unit..

I did put the converter in the tranny first... it seemed all the way in but maybe just not enough... without pulling it off again what are my options

Not many options here other than unbolting the converter from the flexplate and getting the converter all the way in. It takes some working at it to get the converter to seat all the way. To check to make sure that it is seated. measure from the blockplate to where the converter mounts to the flexplate. Then put a straightedge across the front of the trans and measure to the surface of the converter that mounts to the flexplate. It should be pretty much the same measurement. If anything the measurement with the straight edge at the trans should be a little bigger than the blockplate to flexplate measurement.

What if i were to take a wrench and spin the flywheel and converter while pushin the tranny in

In all of my experiences with them you have to spin the converter and kinda rock it some to get the splines to line up and the converter to seat. It sux but thems the breaks.

So theres no way i could get it to seat with the tranny up

Why take the chance?? Might not seat fully but bolt up and then you run the chance of ruining the pump and/or the converter.. Or even worse chew something up and send little pieces of metal into the tranny..
