It will fit however you'll need to change the shift linkage because the F150 AOD is a column shift. Or retro-fit a B&M cable shifter or something would work
I was told that the gearing on a truck AOD is better? Not sure on that though
All AOD gearing is the same unless it's actually an AODE/W. That's what they called the 4R70W for a very short time. I think truck/van AOD's have a longer tail shaft housing on them.
yes you definately need to change the linkage and drill a hole on the tab to bolt down the cable. both are easy because i was about to put my 90 truck aod into a tbird and i switched the 2 linkages around and drilled but i never used it, lot sure on the tailshaft though.

That's not accurate. In some trucks and vans they had the wide ratio gears, along with super coupes. AODE is "electronic". I've never seen a difference in tailshafts either, that would mean that the output shaft is different too, and I've only seen one, and I've built quite a few.

There's AOD, AODE and AODE/W. Which translates to automatic overdrive, automatic overdrive electronic control and automatic overdrive electronic control wide ratio. AODE/W was the name the 4R70W had for a very short time between the AODE and the point at which the 4R70W name was adopted.
I've read that early AOD's had different lentch tailshafts in vans/pickups. My emmory may or may not be 100% on that though. So I'll take your word on it, but I'd advise anyone to measure what they have and what they are looking at to make sure it's the same length.
