I have a 1989 GT with AOD. I was wondering what perts or kits I could use to strengthen the trans for more horsepower and torque. The trans only has 40K on it and already has a good shift kit. thx.
Get a lentech, PA (performanceautomatics.comor something), or and Art Carr valvebody and non-locking convertor. It will last a long while...and shift like hell!
Upgrade the boost valve in the valve body or get a completely new unit, get a stronger input shaft, synthetic fluid, cooler, higher stall converter if you still have the stocker in there, kevlar OD band, locking snap rings for the intermediate sprag. There's tons of stuff you can do. How much do you want to spend and how far do you want to tear into the trans
There is a million things you can do. If you don't already have gears, upgrade the internals to 4R70W with a dirrect drum from 90+. Right now you have cast. It really depends on how much power you are pushing.....let us know.
