k guys i understand that aod's suck and that a manual drastically improves acceleration(duh) and i was wondering about how much it would cost to do the total switch or if i had a shop help me with it? some of my friends say that because my engine is pretty powerful a manual would only get worn down a lot faster and wouldnt be as good. is he blowin smoke? so i guess what i really want to know is all the pros and cons of the switch and how much it would probably cost to get it done with a used tranny.

thanks

I am no expert on the the T5's life span on supercharged engines, but I did convert mine to T5,for about 1200 too, including new clutch and flywheel. I would do a search here for more info. I would say convert it to a 5 speed, but not necessarily to a stock T5.

I had my aod rebuilt with a shift kit and a new 3000 stall converter for 800.00. aods are not bad with some work. you just need to figure out what you want to do with the car. I mad the swap and it i was 50/50 on the out come. I could play around with the stick, but for racing the aod was hard to beat on the steets
