hi last weekend i go to the 1/4 mille track and ran my 91 AOD Gt convertible, so i make a lot of pass, and at the end of the day y drove the car to my house and when i was near to my house the tranny comes to have a failiure, when i stop te car and when i try to star moving the tranny comes to neutral for a second and then star to moving, when i stop again, and again try to launch, te tranny comes neutral and the same history, so i come home i let the car rest, and at the next morning i star the car i took it for a ride and the tranny work fine without the neutral problems i mean the problem doesn´t appears any more.

Hot trouble usually is bad clutches. My A4 in an old Z28 did this only when warm. When cold...best trans ever.

The trans cooler may help prolong the life of an AOD yes, but it might be too late for yours if you already have a problem. I wish you the best.

What might happen is that clutch materials etc are blocking and choking the filter inside the pan,the tranny will free wheel until you turn it off,the clutch materials will fell off and then the cycle will start again and again.

My best guess..

A cooler will help keep the temp where it needs to be so not to slip. It will not repair any damage but it will keep it from getting too hot and slip. Also, a good synthetic fluid will drop the temp a little more. Redline and Royal Purple are good trans fluids.

change the tranny fluid . you must remember that when we race our aod's they will go through the fluid like nothing. even if you have a tranny cooler( which I recommend) after a good day at the track the fluid will n longer be good enough.
