Are Power Window motors rebuildable?

My driver's side window motor died. I happened to have a spare for my right rear quarter window so I just swapped the gear boxes and I'm good to go. Can I rebuild the old motor that gave out? I've gotten good at replacing the bushings and all, but can anything be done for the actual window motor itself? Or is it toast?

Are you sure it's the motor? The gear reducer has plastic drive balls in it that are desigend to crack and fail if a mechanism gets locked up. The7y often fail and a cheap replacment of the drive balls with new ones from 5.0 Resto will get them back in service. If it is the motor, it is common for the dc motor armature brushes to be worn out - put new ones in.

Let me also add that the motors used in most PW setups are pretty all the same. They're readily available on eBay.

I've gotten pretty good at changing the plastic bushings, so I already checked that. Were do you get the DC brushes at?
