Particularly for convertibles?

The driver's seat in my car is busted internally and has that gangsta lean to it which bothers my back, but I'd rather not waste any money on getting it fixed (was quoted $200) because I don’t like the seats in general since they are white leather which I think are ugly and very much show their age. Also they’re not torn but are old and kinda dry and crispy, and neither one has a storage pocket on the back, which I used a lot on my old car.

So I have been watching Craigslist like a hawk for weeks now and have seen many crappy fabric and leather seats for sale and a few decent leather sets come and go real fast. The problem is that it seems they are always black. So I have passed up a couple great chances for mint condition seats for my car at a good price because I haven’t been willing to opt for black.

So I guess my question is, will I be waiting forever for silver or gray? Should I just give up and not let the next good black set go by while I suffer with these ugly busted white seats? Or should I just give it some time and exactly what I'm looking for will show up?

My Car? Silver 1999 GT Convertible. But I assume any seats from 99-04 will do with the newest ones likely being in the best shape.

Black seats in a silver car would look really nice. I personally don't think grey seats look good in a silver car. Your other option would be to buy the least expensive set of seats you can find and purchase new leather for them from a company like katzskins for example. That way you'd have the freedom to choose the exact color you want.

Have you considered aftermarket seats? Cobra's or Corbeau's?

Well my personal preference in order is #1 silver, #2 gray, #3 black.
Not into after market seats and I think replacement leather is costly.
So are silver and gray too uncommon to expect to find fairly easily?

On Craigslist I've already missed the opportunity to get a set of black mint condition leather front seats for $150 and a black mint condition back leather seat for $100.

If you haven't been able to find any you probably already have your answer.

Mustang front leather seats gray - Ebay Motors

Have you tried MPS auto salvage? They specialize in dealing salvage mustang parts and I'm sure they have at least 1 set of gray leather seats. Keep in mind that it may be very tough to find good condition gray seats because unlike black they accumulate dirt and can look very dingy. If you find a set, I'd recommend reading up on Autopia.org the proper technique of cleaning and conditioning the new seats so they look their best and are protected properly

BTW, I don't think Ford ever made silver seats for the 94-04 stangs.

Ok there are no silver leather seats that I know of for these cars. There is the white leather, tan leather, black leather, and white leather in a select few cars. I know that black and tan are the most popular colors they stuck in cars. But I do know that grey seats are available. I do work at a car dealer and have a little time to scope this stuff out for you though. If you are intersted I found a set in texas for 200.00 through LKQ which is a nationwide salvage yard. They should ship but I don't know what freight would be. Let me know if you are intersted And i will give you the contact name and number

Well... if you're going to have any luck, you'll have it in San Francisco. But I do think that you are going to have a hard time finding them.

Ok, so then it sounds like I did screw up letting a set of black front and back leather seats in mint condition for only $250 pass me by.

What color and condition are the seats in Texas? How much to ship?

As far as this forum goes I figured…

SN95 4.6 Talk = “Hey what do you all think of my new rims?”
SN95 4.6 Tech = “Hey what’s the best way to replace seats?”

Thanks! Just gave him a call and he said they're gray and in good shape as far as he knew. I asked if he could send me some photos and he said he'd get them to me tomorrow morning. I forgot to ask what year car they're from. $300 including shipping is still a decent price.

BTW, anyone know what years had 6-way power, lumbar supports, and storage pockets in the back?

Actually, besides the white seats, my actual interior IS gray, so I wonder if those pale silverish gray seats would even look right in it at all.

Those aren't silver lol. Silver means they have a metallic fleck to them. And they'll match just as well as those white seats do.

Here is the silver as you call it. Really it is light grey. My wife's old 03 GT had this interior color. Looked like **** imho.

Here is the dark grey in my 02. It is called dark charcoal.

The 99 anny seats are the dark charcoal with a silver insert in them. I don't have a pic handy.
