Debating on buying a 2007 Shelby or a C6 vette (don't think I can afford a Z06), just as a garaged car < 100 miles a month...are Shelbys scheduled for production beyond 2007?

Which do you think would have more value and WOW factor in 10 years?

Are you really basing your decision on what its "value" will be in ten years? How about the value of enjoying what you drive, instead of speculating which will hold its value better. Neither one of the cars will gain in monetary value anyway.

Well, it is pretty obvious that neither would appreciate in price, that wasn't the point. You have to be pretty ignorant to buy a car just based on "fun value" alone. If that were the case we'd all be driving ferraris.

Again, comparing the vette and cobra cause they'd both be fun to drive. A lot of people have posted that $40k-$50k is a bit expensive for a car, which it is. So before I make that decision just wanted to gauge on which car would hold it's value/price/desirability longer, a specialty mustang or regular vette...

No matter the brand, neither one is an investment. I plan on getting the 07 Shelby.

I think as far as wow factor..... pretty much all corvettes, no matter how modded, or how fast, remain corvettes. A shelby GT 500 is something to write home about.

If I were you, I would have no doubt in my mind.

Personally I think its a rather silly question. A vette is a vette is a vette... A Shelby, on the other hand, is part of a legacy and the product of a legend named Carroll Shelby.

No big surprise the nod is more than likely going to go towards the Shelby. Especially considering you're asking this question on a Mustang board that's currently buzzing over the recently released concept car

Buy the Shelby. They will always make Corvettes, but how long will Ford make a Shelby? Remember, this is NOT a Cobra...this is a Shelby.

I love both cars. My next car will either be a new Mustang GT Vert or a used Corvette Vert, depending on the best deal I get at the time. So I kind of relate with your question.

But I once test drove a 98 Cobra and a 2000 Vette the same morning and all I could think about the rest of the day was the Cobra. I have to agree the Shelby GT 500 has more wow factor.

Well, I suppose it depends on who you are trying to get a "Wow" from. For the average person on the street, I would have to go the opposite direction as the rest of the site and say get the vette. If you want to wow people at car shows, that actually know cars, then maybe you should get the Shelby. To someone that knows what they are looking at, the Shelby is a classic brought back to life and something to be really impressed by. To the average driver on the road, it's just another Mustang with some stripes and custom wheels.

I've never really cared for styling of the Vettes, so for me the decision is pretty easy. Personally, and this is just my opinion, I think you should buy the car that impresses you the most and not worry about what others think about it. I get a big, stupid looking, cheesy grin on my face every time I get in my Mustang, and hey, at the end of the day, isn't that what it's all about?

Having owned both a C5 Corvette and at least 8 Mustangs over the years, I can say that the Corvettes are a hard act to beat. Neither the Corvette or Shelby will be an investment unless you plan on keeping them 20 years or more.
