Since I purchased my new computer I've been doing a lot of reseach on how to keep the machine clean and safe. So now I'm passing this info on to you guys enjoy safer browsing **NOTE articles on how to make them better**
http://forum.tweakxp.com/forum/shwmessage.aspx?ForumID=28&MessageID=134799&TopicPage=1&RateVal=5
Also after doing EXACTLY as stated as above ^^ they also recommend downloading www.ccleaner.com follow the tour it gives info on what it does and how to use it.

Also looking for a faster "Start Up" then follow these instruction **I choose to follow "SAFE MODE" FWIW** XP.
http://forum.tweaks.com/forum/Topic188962-7-1.aspx
**Ignore the reference links they all go to BLKVIPER.com and the site is in-op**
Enjoy safer browsing and start up (quick note the first time I rebooted the computer did seem faster, this morning a huge difference during "start up".)

Want to speed up Fire Fox here you go....
1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

SpyBot misses a lot. Ad-Aware is a very decent tool. You might want to give the new Windows Defender a shot. It picked up some stuff Ad-Aware didn't.

This guy tested every one of them and more. He has a GREAT site and it links to his sister sites on related topics as well.

I use SpySweeper, SpyBot, AdAware, Avast, and Absolute Uninstaller, and I never have a problem with any viruses or spyware. I really love the registery and startup manager/cleaner in Absolute Uninstaller, and the virus detection ability of Avast, and the rest are for spyware.

Edit: I justed remembered that I also use WindowsAntiSpywareBeta (there may be a full version now) and it works wonders!
