ARP Oil pan bolts, too short?

i got my arp oil pan bolts for my engine build.

they are alot shorter then the stock ones, short enough where i wont be able to use the metal strips on the underside of the pan. are those necessary? they are the right bolts, just shorter then stock or what i have now.

ill be using a one piece oil pan gasket and a canton oil pan if that matters. thanks

Slightly off-topic: What exactly will ARP oil pan bolts get you over the stockers?

Oh yeah this is a pill a **** too! I bought a ARP bolt set!! Half of the ****ing bolts didnt fit or were to long or short! As for the pan bolts they ended up in the feild next to my house!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, when you have stock bolts that are brittle and have bad threads, you tend to buy new ones. it was easy to make a phone call to summit and add on a specified set of bolts along with 20 other items.

yeah, its not like i got arp to put an earthshaking 10 pounds of torque on them.

typed in oil pan bolts.. arp part number. done.

DO NOT USE THE STOCK SUPPORT RAILS WITH A CANTON PAN, IT WILL NOT SEAL

Use the ARP bolts, the one piece Fel-Pro re-enforced gasket and a thin layer or RTV and it will not leak. I prefer to put a little blue loctite on the oil pan bolts as well.
