ATI has two new (stage I & Stage II) centrifugal applications for the 03-04 Cobra the article is found in the July issue of 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords. BTW, Awsome tech article!

A stock Cobra with a smaller pulley; 18 PSI made 436.8 rwhp & 461.1 rwtrq. The procharger Stage I with a 14 psi pulley made 588.8 rwhp and 494.5 rwtrq!

Apparently the Stage II wasn't out of production at the time of the article but 5.0 M & SF say that on an otherwise stock cobra, aside from the stage II blower, twin Focus fuel pumps, 55/lphr injectors, and a 3.2 inch pulley it will make 700 rwhp.

So for those of us who prefur the bang for your buck of a centifugal blower over roots or twin screw, there is hope!

Well if you look at the efficency range on the Kenne Bell systems, the ATI's and Vortechs are WAY better. I learned this info from a very well know turner .

I would get the ATI or Vortech(when it comes out) if I had a 03+Cobra.

I already have the Vortech, now if I could only get my hands on a Cobra.

I must disagree with ya here. I did lots of research before I decided on the kenne bell. Yeah you can have a 700hp ATI procharged cobra but with the torque curve that comes with it I will take a 600hp KB over it anyday since the torque is what wins races not HP. I still have yet to see a 03 procharged cobra break into the 10's while there are KB running 9's.

The car makes good peak numbers with ATI, but just look how much power and torque you get at 3000rpm or so... The ATI is 100HP behind KB, even less power than a stock cobra

Well to my knowledge (which is very limited) this is the first seriously attempt at a practical centrifugal blower for the 03/04 Cobra's.

Albeit the process does seem a little jerry-rigged, but the motor was designed for a roots style blower so naturally it's going to take a KB piece easier.

The KB is a quality item no doubt, but so are centrifugals. Both blowers have there pro's and con's that are discussed adnosem in other threads.

I wasn't trying to start a KB vs. centrifugal blower thread; I think there are enough of those already. The point was I thought it was cool that a centrifugal option was available (for a car that comes awesome stock) and it put up really good numbers against a roots style blower with a smaller pulley.

Everyone has a little different taste. I happen to like centrifugal blowers and if I wanted a KB I would have bought one, the point being let’s keep this thread alive to discuss centrifugal options for the 03/04 Cobra.

So please no centrifugal vs. twin screw pissing contest.
Danke.

well that maybe true but most cars running in the NHRA and NMRA have Centrifugal blowers, not Kenne Bells.

I thought we were talking 03 cobras though not nmra 5.0 cars?

The fastest 03's in the country are all kenne bell's.

Common guys no KB vs Centrifugal pissing contest I'd like to see this thread live long enough to discusss centrifugal applications.

The 03 cobra is the same motor as us. Just Forged internals and DOHC. you slap on a centrifugal blower on it and watch the trap speed go up with the same amount of boost.

Ok I will get this back on track.

Here is the dyno chart from the article in 5.0 mustangs. I can post the whole article if someone wants it or send it to you by email.

Its interesting to note that the Apten ported factory Eaton at 15 psi holds the lead in both horsepower and torque up to 5000 rpm over the procharger at a higher 17 psi. From peoples experiences so far the Kenne Bell produces even better numbers than the Apten ported Eaton. It seems like the Procharger only benefits in 5000-6500 range.

Its a neat alternative but being as the average horsepower is actually down from the Eaton and surely down from a KB I think that I would still purchase the KB. After all Ken Biscamp gets 800 horses from his Kenne Bell powered machine. I enjoy the stoplight to stoplight grunt provided by the eaton and know that the kenne bell cars feel even better.

Im sure that the procharger can produce some great numbers and if you operate you car only in the 5000-6500 rpm range then go for it.

So? Whats your point. We are talking specifically about the '03-04 Cobra. The twin screws are almost a pefect match for the Cobra. Tremendous hp and a torque cuve that is out of site.

And how many centrifugally blown 03s are there out there? A dozen at best.

His cobras awesome you should also see Ken Biscamp's. He has hit low 9's on his kenne bell cobra and never even had the valve covers off (cam covers I know ).

The reason right there, 5k and up, is why the Centrifugals are a lot better for drag racing. They produce more power where you spend all your time at. Now Im not talking about street driving or street racing. That is all on your guys. For the strip, a ATI and the new Vortech kit that is coming out will blow away a Kennebell car with the correct setups for each.

Good post. It's best to look at the dyno chart across the RPMs rather than just peak numbers before you make a decision.

Although I'm not fortunate enough to own either system, I'd bet there is quite a bit of difference in the way the car feels.

I think your going to see the ATI cars putting down some good ET's soon...and if your really going for the ET's...watch out for the turbo 03's...

well we got the F1A over 600 ft lbs of torque right now at 4000 rpm and cannot get a good dyno run on it because it will smoke the tires on the dyno at 5000 rpm . it is a beast but right now trying to work the MAF sensor bugs out of it.
I feel the F1A will hit 700 rwhp but then it will be limited by the fuel system.
with a good return style fuel system you may see very highj powered Mod Motors
