I must disagree with ya here. I did lots of research before I decided on the kenne bell. Yeah you can have a 700hp ATI procharged cobra but with the torque curve that comes with it I will take a 600hp KB over it anyday since the torque is what wins races not HP. I still have yet to see a 03 procharged cobra break into the 10's while there are KB running 9's.

I would like to see the explanation for how a 600 rwhp car is faster than a 700 rwhp car even if the 600 rwhp car has more low end torque. We'll assume that vehicle weight is the same and that gearing and traction is optimal for both cars. At higher rpm the 700 rwhp is putting out more torque (hence more hp) and will put harder on the top end, where drag racers spend most of their time. This has been proven time and time again and has nothing to do with a particular brand or type of supercharger, or the results of limited testing on KB and ATI Cobras.

I wonder what the fastest non nitroused KB cobra runs. I wonder what a nitroused procharged 03 cobra would run. does it have to matter.

This is not a explanation, but its a true point of view to why hp doesn't make you faster. I have alot of friends with daily driven race cars. Meaning they run at the strip every week.

2 guys for instance are ls1 guys with no more than 355 cubes. They are in the 400-430 rwhp range running through t-56's and they are running low 7's and high 6's in the 1/8 mile. They have gears and drag suspension. Now my 4.6 buddies also have gears and drag suspension and are centrifugal supercharger, one is putting 430 rwhp on a 01 cobra with 4.56 gear, and is only running 7.50's and 7.60's in the 1/8 mile. Another one is a 560 rwhp 96 cobra and has not yet ran at the track but is a good race between one of the ls1 cars with 420 rwhp when he is at 560 rwhp. Its all in the curve. All 4 of the guys mentioned in my post are great drivers with a large some of races at the drag strip and at the track.

So to point out peak hp does not win races simple as that

Oh yeah, peak HP does not make you accelerate. But torque does....\

Pro charger

The pro charger kit with a few additions (injectors fuel pump, after cooler)will make over 700 rwhp on pump gas.

I know where you can get a pro charger installed and tuned for $3500

They will guarantee 600 rwhp. On a mustang Dyno!!!

We weren't discussing the issue in terms of "peak hp". In a race its all about how much average torque goes to the ground over the distance, and a flatter torque curve does give an advantage if the peak HP is comparable between cars.

Neoclasiccl originally implied that a 600 hp Kenne Bell S/C Cobra could be faster than a 700 hp centrifugal S/C Cobra. 100 rwhp is a big difference, regardless of the flatter torque curve on the 600 hp car. Your example of the 430 hp LS1 beating the 430 hp 4.6 Cobra in the 1/8 mile is easily understandable, and expected. ... although in general a 1/4 mile would be a better distance to use as an example, because the outcome is better for cars that have a strong top end.

We all know that drag racing involves a lot more than just engine hp, but I hope you don't think your friends 560 rwhp Cobra is comparable to the 420 LS1 you mentioned. That reminds me of a guy I know of with a 385rwhp cammed/bolt-on WS6 who (knowlingly) raced a H/C centrigual 4.6 GT with 490 rwhp from a 60-70mph roll and thought it would be a good race . The GT walked him hard ... it was NO contest as the WS6 driver admitted himself.
