auto 5 speed on a 01 GT

I was thinking about getting one of the 5 speed autos off the new 05 GT and installing it into my 01 GT auto.. has anyone heard anything on this I think it would be cool..

What would be the gains???

Not sure it would be worth the hassle or coins spent.

ok

shorter gears.. the 1st and 2nd gear on a stock GT are way way tall..

I;d rather take the version off the Lincoln LS with the select shift option.

I'm really disappointed Ford didn't make the Mustang version with SS, but it would prob drive the price up higher

oh

I bet it bolts right up perfect.. I think im going to find one of the first wrecked 05s and pull that auto out.. and install it in mine..

Um ok,

Here is the ratios:

2.84:1, 1.55:, 1.00:1, 0.70:1

Looks good to me, just need lower gears in the rear.

I heard the 5 speed just splits 1 & 2 and was designed to help Ford Explorers tow with weight.
Truck was so weak the dam thing could not get into 2nd gear from a stop (too high ratio)

So the only gain I see is closer ratio trans.

The W in 4R70W means WIDE RATIO
