i know to use the search button and all, and i did, but i am looking for as much information as possible on swapping out an auto for a 5-speed in a '98 V6 mustang. if there is someone out there that has done this, i would greatly appreciate talking over the parts and cost involved in this, as well as the problems i might run into when doing this.

U could do it urself for under a grand easy. They make a conversion kit but i dunno where u can buy it at. Might want to go searching around. Price of tranny and ur own physical labor is all that is at stake...

p.s. i know for a fact many people have done how-to's with pictures on this one...go to www.3.8mustang.com and www.v6power.net... i can't remember which one had it and im too lazy to look myself...

(snort) That's what I did. I was driving a 2000 automatic and finally gave up on the idea of a swap and just went and bought a new 04. The cars were selling for $12.5k brand new so I gave it a shot. I couldn't be happier. The difference is staggering performance wise.

its not worth it no way no how.. it will kill your resale value easy, if its an older car and you simply want to mess around with it and not trade then expect 2 grand~ that should be more than enough.

today i found a junk yard that will sell me a 5-speed tranny and everything i need for the swap for $650. today i also ran across a '96 GT 5-speed. the GT is $5,940 and has 106,600 miles. it is pretty loaded, has the mach sound system and all those goodies, everything except leather. should the mileage scare me? should i stick w/ the V6 and do the swap (my '98 V6 has 89,500 miles)? what do you guys have to say?

There was no advantage to having that file in pdf as opposed to regular html.
