What all is required and what all would I need to do in order to go from an auto tranny to a manual?

the tranny of course, clutch assembly, pedal assembly, re-routing the speedo cable, I would go ahead and get a new starter..obviously you'll have to get a shifter, boot and console plate..

some things you may need are a new cross member, driveshaft and exhaust setup

edit: you also wont need to worry about the EEC when you do the swap, infact from what i heard, its recommended that you should just leave it alone because of the different wire harnesses between the two..

Accually, its not that bad, you can get all the donor parts from a car for about $500, then maybe another $500 worth of parts, and about 15-16 hours of work w/ screwing around..

but if you already have alot of mods and stuff, its totally worth it..

For a 5 speed swap Mustang Magic quoted me 2300. That was everything and labor with a used 5 speed, cobra clutch and tri-ax. Pedal box and stuff all used from wrecked cars. I'm planning on jumping to a nice T56. I think D&D performance has a well priced kit. To me its worth it over trading my car.

I really dont want a supercharged auto. Even with my current set-up the auto doesnt give you enough control on the street (shifting while cornering etc.), and runs out of gear too early. The last thing I want is more power.

Its fine for drag racing and all, but I eventually want my car set-up more as my everyday driver / autocross, and I feel the manual tranny is far better suited for that. Once I get the T56 I'll debate on whether to stay NA or get blown, but the tranny has to come first. I never wanted an auto (wifes fault ), and would never buy one again.

Does anybody know what all comes in the stangparts kit. I can prolly get a 5 speed and if I had a full parts list I could goto my local junk yard and get a real good deal on all of the other stuff that I would need to do the swap. I just don't wanna get half way into the middle of it and find out that I would need somting that I didn't have, If someone knows the full list of things needed please post it up.

well supposedly, it's absolutely everything you need. a while back (like a year or more) mm&ff did a article on it & that's who they called to get the kit. & it had everything in it of course there always seems to be something that you need to go down to autozone for in the middle of a project, no matter how well preparred you are

don't hold me too this, but i think someone told me in one of the other threads that mps will sell the kit, minus the tranny as well. so it might be worth checking out still
