Strange thing happened to me the other day. I drove home from work Monday night and everything seemed fine. Parked in the garage as normal. I left again 15 minutes later and noticed a pool of reddish fluid on the floor. I am pretty sure it was trans fluid. Needless to say I was pretty upset. I drove to the movies, parked, no drips. I drove home, parked, no drips. When I left in the morning, I noticed a very small drop or two and that is all. Checked the fluid level and it looks fine - bright red and clean.

I am pretty concerned with this as I only have 49000 miles on the car. This is my second Stang with an auto. My 94 had to have the trans rebuilt 3 times! I am not looking forward to a rebuild on an '01. I don't drive it too hard - in fact a buddy of mine says I drive like his grandma. Every now and then I like to spin the wheels, but nothing too bad.

I had the fluid flushed and filled a few months ago, and have not noticed any drips in the garage for a long time. I can't think of what would cause this. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help!

You need to get under the car and examine where the transmission lines connect to the radiator as well as examine all the bolts on the transmission pan to make sure there isn't anything loose or broken. If you're transmission dipstick tells you its full, then the leak is either slow or its not the transmission that's leaking. Make sure its not brake fluid or power steering fluid thats leaking. Anyhow, I don't think you'll have to worry about rebuilding the tranny if you catch the possible leak you have now and fix it.

Ahhh...didn't think of power steering fluid. Doesn't look like brake fluid. Yeah, I gotta get under it - maybe this weekend. It has been raining pretty much every day lately. Thanks for the info.
