autolite platinum for blown pony??

i have a 2000 v6..of course...11psi IC procharger setup, autologic chip, duals, yadda yadda...engine wise, just the blower, a 80mm maf, and the chip..well i recently had to have the wires replaced due to my 3rd clynder wire was burnt in half from touching they believe the manifold, none the less it was crapped...so the shop replaced it with just basic motorcraft wires..eh..anyways, i was reading up on here about good plugs to use, and peeps said pass on the bosch and go with autolite, so i picked up some autolite platinums...now you think those will work good and should i keep the stock gap of .052 or what? let me know...thanks

oh yea..also...this is becoming a problem...i went out a little while ago...and that 3rd cylinder wire is toasted again! i noticed it looks like it is hitting the fuel rail...well technically its the number 4 cylinder wire..but the mechanic guy just said the 3rd one on the passenger side ( closest to firewall) anywho...it looks to be rubbing against the fuel rail...i believe thats the fuel rail...does that get hot enough to melt the otter rubber of a plug wire? if not..could there be a reason its melting from the inside out? i doubt thats the case, from that it looks like, but...let me know...i gotta replace that wire AGAIN and see about zip tieing it off away from everything

Platinums aren't recommended for supercharged cars. I use the autolite coppers

so i oughta go with coppers? the platinums are doing pretty good, but iv only had um on about a week, ill switch um out for coppers...thanks for replying, only like 15 people looked but no one said anything, so thanx

I don't exactly know why, but the guy that tuned my car said that platinums are bad for blown cars. That's about all I know

platinum is not as good as a conductor as copper is....thats why the coppers are better...platinum resists corrosion better, hence lasting longer...but for all out performance, copper plugs are the best. Check out a periodic table for a chem book. I did 2 terms of electrotechnology as well. take out the plat. plugs and wires pop in a set of coppers and you will be happy.

conductivity makes no difference in igniting the fuel.

platinums require more gap which is bad for blowers. the flame kernel gets blown out causing misfires also the ehat range may be too hot causing detonation.

autolite 605's are perfect as are 103's for the procharged setup

denso iridium IT-20's are also good. they are alot better than plats. still though coppers are best for forced induction and or nitrous.

cold plugs are best. gap them at about .030"-.035" for the coppers and leave the iridiums alone. they are harder to gap

sure it does....the better the conductivity of the plugs and wires the better the spark the better the burn. simple physics and electrotechnology. copper is best.....we agree! peace
