Autometer Water Temp sensor

Insted of tapping a new thread I was thinking on just replacing the stock sensor and running 2 wires from the one that autometer gave me with the water temp gauge. I want the dash one 'alive', I don't care about it as long as it isn't a dead needle gauge. Would there be a problem running 2 wires off of the autometer sensor or would there be a bad affect?

I don't think the autometer sensor will give the right output for the stck gauge. Your either going to have a t-filtting with both sensors (which I tried and thought looked like crap) or go the the plug in the block which is what I did. I do like the idea of tapping a hole in the thermostat housing why hasn't UPR or MGW made something like that?
