AWG Wire Chart?

Hmm well I appreciate the lesson on google and all but I already did a search before posting here. Even with your search criteria I'm not really finding what I'm looking for. Thought one of you may already have it.

Does anyone have and/or know where I can ger the chart that will tell you for a given wire gauge and current, what the maximum length the circuit can before, you know, you set fire to the car?

Thanks :D

The first link in the google search has a calculator to determine voltage drop for wire size, amperage and length of wire. Be sure to include the ground wire length. You don't want more than .3v loss, .1v is what you should shoot for. What are you wiring?

I'm wiring up a Taurus electric fan and am trying to see if 10 AWG wire will cut it for the main power lead off the fan. Right now I'm about in the 3-4 ft total circuit length range. Based on that, i'm sort of at the limit of the 10 AWGs ability with what you just said and what I figured in my head. Also assuming 75 amps.

I think the Taurus harness is 10ga. The fan runs closer to 30 amps on high. Spike at start up is maybe 77 amps? I ran a 95 GT fan on mine and used a 30 amp relay, but start up would kill 30 amp fuses. I put a breaker on it instead of a fuse. It handles the start up spike better.
