I'm trying to get the axles out of my 96 GT. There is an S shaped part between the spiders that is keeping the C-Clips from coming out. There REAL close to coming out but no deal.
Please enlighten me.

I had to persuade the axles to go in further with a light rap on the end the the axles with a small sledge hammer. Then all went well.

Did you remove the ABS sensors? It allows the axle to slide enough and let the c-clips drop off the axle shaft.

Also the pinion shaft has a bolt that holds it in place in the spiders. Remove the bolt and the shaft should slide tight out.

I hope it was really light... your supposed to remove the abs sensors. then they slide right in no problem and you can remove the clips.
