Well I recently broke an axle and I had my shop put in 31 spline 4 lug axles...
Now I wish I would have went with 5 lug axles...

So how hard would it be to change them out myself? I have an Auburn Pro in the car right now.

Im guessing, just remove the axle cover, pull the C clips, and pull out the old axles?

I really dont want to have to pay labor again for getting new axles put in.

Thanks.

Yeah thats pretty much it. Pull the C-clips = axles slide out.

will the Auburn Pro make it hard to get to the clips?

Will I need to replace the bearings/seals?

You may or may not have to change the bearings, look for grooves in the axles where they ride on the bearings, also listen for sounds comming from either side of the axle before you take it apart. Although not nessisarily needed, its never a bad idea to replace the old axle seals, they aren't hard to do.

If you really gotta save the seals, be careful to support the axle shaft as you slide them out, and don't let the tip drag across the seal. The splines will tear the seal.

Also, use a nice clean pan to catch the diff lube so you can reuse it - expensive stuff.
