Some of you may have read my thread posted last week about coming out to my car after dinner and having a huge dent/scratch in my passenger side quarter panel. Well...I have new news.

Today at the tuner shop we were adjusting my suspension. I had to climb in the back seat and jump up and down. Upon completion I stepped out of the car to see the others in the room staring in horror at me and at...my passenger side door.

You see there was a 2v 4.6 V8 on a perch next to my door. I thought it was far enough out of the way. As I bounced up and and down the edge of the motor proceeded to lay in to my door AND handle.

I now have 12 inches down the door of deep, down to the metal, scratches. My door handle, which is plastic, is grooved beyond repair. It will need to be completely replaced.

This also happened ONE DAY after I filed my claim with Allstate for the other claim. So now I will have to pay out of pocket to fix this additional damage. I can't risk another claim so soon.

Some might say, "dude, just have the shop's insurance cover it."

I would agree that damage that happens in a shop is the responsibility of the shop, technically. But morally I was the one who opened the door knowing the motor was there. I was the one who jumped up and down and caused the damage. So I cannot bring myself to try and have the shop be responsible at all. Not even 50%.

I just get to suck it up. That's okay, I plan to drink myself to unconsciousness tonight.

I guess its a small consolation, but at least it's all on the same side of the car. Will make it easier for the painter to match it up.
