Is it possible(for a reasonable ammount of money) to get a bellhousing to back my 428 if anybody makes one? Right now I have a c6 and I was just daydreaming at work and wondering if it was possible because the prices of the t56 has been dropping a bit. This is going to go into my Q code 70 Mach 1 and originality is not an issue for me. Thanks for your input.

You can use a t-56 from a viper, ls1 f body,lt1 f body and a 03-04 cobra (same bolt pattern as the cobra R too) According to the McLeod Modular Bellhousing Application List. For a t56 from the
03-04 cobra or 00 R, you need "complete assembly" 8746-00
ls1 f body.............................................................. 8740-06
lt1 f body ............................................................. 8740-07
Viper.................................................................... 8740-08

I am assuming these are all Mcleod P/N's and you could prolly call the folks at McLeod to see how much one of these "Kits" would cost. I found the List from my May 03 issue of hot rod. Might be able to find the article on the net, it was called "Engine and Trans-Swap Break Through!" Hope this helps

65fast is correct. If you have to contact McLeod DO NOT use their web "contact form" cause they never repliy. Also, their tech hours are M-F 10-12 & 1-3 PST. I needed to contact them last week and it just kept rinigng, so I finally drove down there. Here is their web catalog page on it.

http://mcleodind.com/cgi-bin/fccgi....c1=/catalog_htm/2003cat.htm&w3hostname=MCLEOD

You must be runnin one hell of a cam (or rear gears) to be able to utilize a .62 or .50 final OD of the T-56 on a carb'd big block

Doesn't tremec make a modular bell housing that had different adaptors so you can do different engine and transmission combos. You should check with them.

I was looking at my latest issue of car craft last night and it had an article on the McCloed modular bellhousing. You may want to call them or check out their website if you haven't already.

It can be done. Its been done. Check out some of the Cobra (Kit Car) forums. Look up Mike Forte (Forte's Parts) and give him a call. He knows what you need and can supply all the parts, even a Hydraulic clutch if you want.
