It's been a long four months wait, but the car arrived back from paint on Saturday. The results have been well worth the wait. Color is Ford Sonic Blue with Ford Performance White stripes.

I'm looking forward to starting to put it back together. First on the list are a new double master brake cylinder and installation of a Painless wiring system. Expect to see a lot more messages from me in the future, now that I've got a lot of work to do.

congrats!, Yah i know what you mean... it's a pretty anxious time waiting for your car to come back from the paint shop.
Just got mine back last week. Had to wait 3 months for it
Love the ford sonic blue, would've painted mine that color if i had a black interior

Congrats! You are now at the best part of the project, getting to put all the new shiny stuff back on Nice color combo and like the front apron. Be sure to post updates along the way.

Car looks great! The Sonic Blue looks real good with the stripes. I just got my car back two weeks ago after 6 months. Let us know how the wiring works out.

Maybe I am missing something because I am not a much of a body guy, but why does it take so many months to paint a car?

For 3 or 4 base coats and 2 clear coats, I would think a few weeks.

Are you having them do rust work too?

What am I misssing?

Well, see in my case i had him strip the old paint off and then try to do as much body work as possible. Then again, the body was under not too bad of a shape IMO.
But what I know is that when you give a body shop a car they first have to do the insurance claim ones cause the insurance companies get on their case for having the car for too long, cause insurance companies have to pay for the car rental in the mean time.

My uncle is best friends with the painter and i'd say we were pretty lucky to get it back within 3 months. But what made me extremely angry was that he would tell me he'll finish it on a certain day then like a few days before the dead line he'll be like i need some more time, he pushed it back every week it was extremely annoying. He did a lot more work that was required and for a cheap price. I paid 6k for it all, he also installed small things like hood locks, new emblems here and there, new steering wheel, arm rest pads and rests themselves. etc...

Insurance work will always take priority at a body shop. However, my priority was the quality of the final job, rather than the schedule. It turned out great.

I need more friends like that.

I'd have a hard time going to work knowing that I could be at home assembling my car.

Anything done to the undercarriage, trunk, wheel wells, cowl, engine bay?
