Hey guys,

new to the mustang scene. Pretty sure i got a bed belt tensioner.
Problems im having are when car is at idle and i turn on AC or defrost car wants to die.
Idle drops really low or the car will just die. Cruising around i dont have any problems. just at idle.

i attached a video of the tensioner, i assume its just simple change with new belt or anything else that might be putting the strain and killing the engine at idle?

I can't watch your video, because my computer is a fckin vegetable. Have you checked your IAC? I have a bad tensioner, it makes a godawful bird sound, but it doesn't affect my idle or anything other than the noise.

Just changed the IAC Less than 1000km ago.
Closer to end of it you will see the tensioner give a little when I turn on the AC
Try the new format.

Dang that doesn't look right haha. If you can tell me exactly which tensioner that is I can look up the removal/installation process for you.

From what I researched just found description of belt drive tensioner.

http://www.allfordmustangs.com/foru...041-2001-serpintine-belt-diagram-pulley-3.gif

Number 7 on the diagram.
You think just that has failed or struggling to keep slack because of another issue?

OK, so I fail hard at using Mitchell, which is why I'm trying to practice any chance I get. I'm just gonna post everything I can find on the tensioner.

I don't think the problem is the belt tensioner... If it was a belt tension problem then you would have noise - basically belt slippage and this will not make you stall. A stall condition is caused by load not equaling fuel/air required. First thought would be the IAC but you just changed that. Second thought would be to check for vacuum leaks. Couple questions. Does it surge some before stalling? Are you getting a CEL?

No cels no codes.
Did have heater core go out on me last year. Thought that was the problem first because car would stall on turns. then changed the iac summer time was great never used AC just dropped the top.

Car came with simple bolt ons.
Accufab throttle body.
Bbk intake. Cleaned that already.
Flows and pypes offroad X. Finally made some mils and got rid of the cell back in aug 2011.
Car does stink like gas by exhaust area with no cats, mileage is complete crap. Getting maybe 10-12MPG average. .
So could be vacuum leak somewhere, and yes it will try to stay alive by surging, sometimes it just dies, sometimes fall down to 500rpm and bounces around 500-700rpm and struggles but keeps running.

Anyone have a vacuum diagram?

Never tried this, but sounds like it would work. Get a can of starting fluid and with the car idiling give a little squirt to anyplace a vacuum leak my happen. Hit a certain place and the idle goes up everytime you hit it, engine is sucking air from there and you have found a vacuum leak.
