bad mpg?

i get exactly 20.3 miles on the highway crusing at 70-80. the stock gauge isnt accurate at all, it shows me half full when in realityn its closer to 75%.

not sure if this has anything to do with it but the car sometimes smells like it is running hot. not sure if you know that smell but it is a certian smell

Anyways the car is not running hot. I was thinking it might be the exhaust but could it be something with the gas?

could the maf be really dirty? if so is that hard to clean?

also is fuel injector cleaner worth trying?

is there anyway to get the o2s checked?

When I bought my car a couple of years ago I was geting terrible mileage. A tune up at the dealership cured the problem and I get 16-17 in city driving and 22-24 on the highway depending upon how fast I drive.

My guage isn't terribly accurate, so I record my gas purchases in a notebook and go by the trip odometer to judge when I need to refuel. I have gone 340 miles between fillups on long road trips.
