bad news... well for me anyways.

Pulled my heads off tonight, pass side gasket looks brand new, drivers side is another story. The ring between number 6 and 7 got blown and has got like an inch gap in the ring where it got melted. Head needs to get filled in where it got melted between number 6 and 7, then resurfaced. Looks like my stock heads are going back on for awhile. I might end up selling my heads for a fairly cheap price, and maybe my turbo kit to fund a new engine, then I'll build on that for a few years until I get out of college because I need a reliable car. I'll get pictures later on of the damage Sad thing is I saw the piece of gasket laying in the road smoking, but I didnt know what the hell it was since I only saw it in my mirror. This wasnt even when I was under boost! Just pulling around a corner and just starting to get into the throttle.

Sorry to hear about the heads. Kinda sucks when you see all that money go down the drain. You could always buy a new bare casting for the head an dmove the valvetrain over. Best of luck with whichever route you choose. By the way. I'm first in line for the turbo kit if you sell

I really admire your car and all the work you do yourself, but damn u must have the worst luck i have ever heard of. Do you pass acrossed alot of black cats when u drive ? But seriously hope the car is back on the road again turbo or not. Preferably turbo

Why don't you just stick with something for once and be done with it. Or do you like ripping your motor apart all the time?? Any turbo mustang is going to blow a HG from time to time. I don't think there is a guy on turbomustangs.com that hasn't blown a HG. Its just part of the game. Also, what do you expect when you're driving around without a dyno tune.

This is what I would do: Get your head fixed, put in some cometic HG's and trailer the car to a dyno and get a really safe tune. Then have fun. Why scrap the whole project??

my advise.. Get rid of those heads! They have given you too much trouble, from what I've seen.

But why not just throw the stock heads back on, with new cometics (MLS) and take it somewhere to tune it..

I see no reason why the car can't be reliable, driveable, and quick.. If you just go back over it, tidy up a few lose ends and deal with the heads and gaskets.

The hood issue is an easy fix!

Damnit, I hate hearing this story get worse and worse. Atleast it helps to show me that I should not risk boosting this stock block because I already have small blow by issues which would only worsen if I boosted it. I'd say sell the heads and look for a stock shortblock for now, or that one guys that you were thinking about getting. Throw the stock heads back on and have something reliable for school and such. Then save up for a good block and redo the turbo kit and be happier than you were could have.

Sounds all to familiar. Buy a bad ass N/A crate motor drop it in and drive. That's what I'm doing. Well until my tranny blows up (first 10 minutes).

oink has a good point, just keep your stock heads on the car, maybe even port them a little. Then get the TF's fixed and sell them to get money for a tune.

I'm probably going to run ported stock heads if I do a turbo set-up.

You may be in a bigger rush than this but...

A decent shop should be able to fix your heads and have them back to you in a week or two at the most. Give some shops a call and ask.

Check your deck pretty well too...I've seen them warp a little between cylinders when this happens.

Between Mike's and Troy's posts, I don't think I've got much to add - just restate.

Fixing aluminum heads is relatively cheap assuming the work doesn't get too extensive up into the chambers and bowls. Area between cylinders would be quite easy because it would just need to be filled and milled.

From the sound of things, the heads may have needed to be milled anyhow, considering the HG problems.

Have you taken a straight edge to the deck to make sure that hasn't warped?

hey man sorry to hear about the problems, did you ever think of possibly ditching the heads you have like mentioned above and getting some iorn gt40p's? much like stock durabilty, but can make good power...plus you can get em real cheap at autozone if you use your stockers as a trade-in!

WOW Zach....That bad boy was gittin & spittin (pun intended)

Several times I've seen others say they popped a HG on the first trial run after a power adder was installed but .... smokin chit left behind

Your thread has confirmed to me that when I get around to the power adder phase with the Stang ...... the first trial spin around the block with the new combo I'll make sure the tune will be setup up with...............................
