bad plug wires..wich ones to get ???

went to adjust my timing yesterday and got shocked when i touched my #2 plug wire.....found out its bad and i need some new ones..i have ford motorsports wores right now...wich do you suggest?

The Ford Racing wires will be fine...

I really like the FMS plug wires, mine shocks me even when I touch them but there not cracked. Also LiveWires are really nice.

MSD Super Connector Wires. Not very expensive and they're awesome. Adjustable plug boots as well.

I've had great luck with the Taylor '409' wires.

don't get msd universal wires, mine touched the header and burnt up on i think the 2nd cylinder on the passenger side. I think cost vs benefit, ford racing will be your best bet.

I have the MSD Super Conductors on both of my Mustangs and they work great. I burned up one but that was because I didn't bend them... lesson learned... You can also buy their wired individually if any should have a misshap too.

I had the same problem with the FMS and the 6al. Makes your hand stand up some....

I run the Trick Flows now. Look near identical the the Taylor 409s, but only run around 60 bucks, i think.

The Taylor 409's or the Moroso Super 40's have the lower resistance, the Live Wires are right up in that mix as well.

I run the Livewires since I like the protective sleeves, they fit very nice and hold up well.

It gets to the point of how much do you want to spend? $40 or $140?

fms wires.hard to beat $40 plus they're # so you know where they go.my wires don't shock me,wires can be bad without cracks in them.i've seen wires cracked before and not shock you,it doesn't prove anything.

If the Ford Racing wires shock you just because you have a stronger ignition module in your car that doesn't say much for the wires.

The last set I got wereTaylor Thundervolt 50 wires. They averaged less than 50 ohms/ft

The Crane FireWires are advertised at 25 ohms/ft

If I recall, the FMS wires averaged around 7-800 ohms/ft

LiveWires are around 300 ohms/ft

Taylor 409's averaged 300 ohms/ft

stock wires were well over 1000 ohms/ft, but I don't recall the exact number.


You were getting shocked from the wires OR from the top of the distributor.

i would prefer to spray wires and watch for the light show than infer anything from whether or not i was shocked.
