HELP!! I am just about ready to give up on my 1966 mustang convert. I have a terrible shaking/wobble when starting off even at a very low speed you can feel it coming on and also when going over some bumpy road. Feels like the car is going to shake completly apart. I have changed many parts incl. steering box. It has new tires/wheels front end alignment, shocks, springs, brakes, wheel bearings, motor mounts, tie rod ends, power steering cylinder, clutch/pressure plate, master cylinder. I don't know what else to do!!! Is there something I am missing?? I need Help bad.

What makes you think it is specific to the front only? Is everything tightened? Double check all nuts and bolts? (Upper control arms secure?) Could it be rear end or drive line? Did you remove the drive shaft? Tires out of balance?

Check this

Assuming this is a wobble in the steering wheeel...

Wheel bearing preload
Check all steeering joints

If all else fails, install a steering dampner on relay rod if you don't have one.

If nor being felt in steering, check u-joints

Had the same symptoms on my '68 when I bought it in 1982. It would start wobbling back and forth like the front end was going to fall out from under the car.

My '68's problem turned out to be a bad idler arm on the passenger's side of the drag link.

I went ahead and replaced the idler along with the balljoints, and the problem went away.

The idler arm looks ok. I replaced the bushing, the ball joints looked as thought they were replaced before i got the car no rust look kind of clean. But I was thinking about changing the upper and lwer control arms to tubular type. This would be the last thing I could possiblby change

That's no good.

How much caster did they put in it when they aligned it?

See if you can get a print out of the alignment specs when they finished and post it.
