I am going to Barrett Jackson again this year, which by the way, does NOT have 1 Saleen in its inventory this year. Makes me wonder, what kind of dough my car would bring there. I have really considered it. I priced out the enclosed transport for 1 way which was almost $1300. When the cars sells, you pay a percentage to the auction which I believe is 7%. Toss in the "No Reserve" policy, and one could really sweat through the bidding.....But they say cars usually go for 10 to 20% higher for an avg. These numbers dont resemble certain cars of course like the Shelbly's and Cuda's, but overall, it certainly makes me wonder. Maybe next yr. Anybody considered, or even have a guess on what Saleen models would bring what?

I know either last year or the year before, these guys here were unhappy with what an s351 brought at barrett. They said it was low. I don't know the numbers personally.

I thought about listing my 94 S351, but after running the numbers it did not make sense in a no reserve situation. I just don't think there are enough people who are knowledgeable about Saleen Mustangs that will be bidding at Barrett Jackson. Most of the guys are focused on the old muscle cars. Our day will come at BJ though....

Yea,

A 99 S351 only brought 28k a couple of years ago. tragic. Oh and Saleenster, it's 8%....ouch.

I don't believe Barrett will ever be a good sales forum for a Saleen Mustang. At least for the next 20 years.

In the past I would certainly agree. Take a look at the car line up this year, especailly the Mustangs. There are a couple 94 vert indy pace cobra's, even an 84 mustang GT with a 5.0 in it.

I did not see any S351 cars last yr, just the saleen T-bird which brought almost 70k. They like flashly stuff there, and which day your car goes through will determine what kind of coin it will bring. Friday and Saturday's your car will bring 20% more over top dollar, but a draw on Tuesday would be bad luck unless like you say, people are there to bid just on the Saleen.

Ah, okay tks for corrrecting me. Your probably right about the Saleen Mustang stage, but I think the time frame will be much quicker then 20 yrs, especially if Saleen moves to Chevy.

I have been to BJ. Believe me, it is not a forum for Saleen cars. Maybe in years to come. It is great fun to watch new money spend mindless amounts of money on air cars....modified cars...cars with virtually no VIN's etc.

I am a firm believer that most cars recently are being bought back by the sellers. I have contemplated selling two cars (considered easy big sales) there...and I was reminded that even though it is no reserve( more on that later) I could be assured that someone would run the car up to my price...if it is reasonable. Wow, can you imagine what went through my mind? You have people mto mrun up the price...what if I am a darn bidder....who the heck am I bidding against? What a gigangitic sham!

It is also my opinion that many cars are being bought on home equity loans. The longest lines at BJ are at the finance companies! This could be a huge factor in the next year or sooner!

Lower home sales....reduced prices...continuing loan payments........spell some significant adjustments. You won't see it in front of your eyes...as sellers buying back is virtually invisible.....but I think thie year will spell the end of GIGANTIC high volume muscle car ( Chevelle 454 and others) prices. So spend 5.00 and buy this months sports car market magazine...and read Keith Martins column.

My opinion only! Saleens willl have their day....but not now!

Let there be no doubt. Good times cost extra...between 1000.000 and 2500.00 ...but my memory may be suspect. Good times costing extra is not up for debate though. Want a good time??????Pay for it. I felt so sorry for the last cars sold at the last BJ I went to. The seats were EMPTY!!!! I saw a couple of nice...nice but not great shelby's go for 20% under market.....the owners were beside themselves. A countach was almost ignored! It was wild.

BJ wins every time. 8% from both buyers and sellers, pay for good times....man, they need armed cars to drive the money away.
