I went downtown last night to an excellent BBQ restaurant that I love. On the way back, I decided to go behind the Detroit Tigers Stadium. They made the first hole in the side to get the equipment inside.

Last game there was in Sept of 1999. They sold the place out, and it's sat ever since. They sold a couple thousand seats, and I got 1 pair. Lots of memories came from this ballpark, and MANY MANY people are upset about ripping it down.

And the seats I have here at the yard.

That thing is a Historic site? i thought they can't demolish Historic Sites??

Tiger Stadium is a stadium located in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit, Michigan. It hosted the Detroit Tigers Major League Baseball team for nearly a century before that franchise moved into the new Comerica Park in 2000. It also hosted the Detroit Lions of the National Football League for many years. It was declared a State of Michigan Historic Site in 1975 and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1989. The stadium is also nicknamed "The Corner" for its location on Michigan Avenue and Trumbull Boulevard.

Demolition of Tiger Stadium began June 30, 2008. Efforts still continue to save the dugout to dugout area of Tiger Stadium [1].

Again, i'm not really a yankee fan but i still can't believe they are tearing down "the house that Ruth built". Thats another one they shouldn't tear down..

I read a little more about tiger stadium, its been around since the early 1900's. They are saving a pice of it so it won't be torn entirely down

I don't know much about the Tigars except they sucked! no offense!

Mark Fidgerick was the man though! That bubble gum eating, pimple faced kid could sure throw a ball!!

Yeah this is the last year for the Yankee's in the old stadium. I'd like to get a seat too but they will be going for an arm & a leg!! Unless I go to a game this year with tools and steal one!

noooo....don't steal one....(I know you're joking)...but the security guards that were "protecting the stadium" were accepting bribe money and letting people in. They stole a loooooot of stuff over the past couple years. Those security guards and the people who got inside are getting charged with a Felony, and many other crimes, and are facing jail time.

The seats were 275 dollars shipped to my yard. They came on a huge truck and everybody who sees them tells me to sell them on Ebay...haha

Nah, there worth more in your house! That's gotta be such a scam, how would you know the seats are "actually from" Tiger stadium? And I'm sure you'll see alot of so called Yankee stadium seats on e-bay!

DUDE!!!! I've been to quite a few gmen games the past few years.. They took up two giant parking lots behind the current stadium. Then once its up, they will knock down Giants Staduim.

Construction_Cam - Giants.com

Giants Stadium LLC

It made going to the games last year hard becuase only season ticket holders had parking passes.. everyone else had to be shuttled in.. the area set up for regular stadium parking won't let you tailgate. .tailgating is only permitted in the Giant Statidum parking lot. So what we did was buy a parking pass from a season ticket holder on e-bay. ended up paying like 90 bucks for the pass but we tailgated alllllll day (it was a monday night game and we got there at 10am). So the 90 bucks split between us all was worth it!

No I'm not gonna sell them. It's a peice of history, I don't want to be without. I remember going to those games with my Mom's Dad, who passed in 1995. I didn't care if they kept the stadium, or tore it down....BUT...now that I saw the big hole in the wall, it really made me think...I do care now, and it is sad.

I like the Tigers, but only because of Curtis Granderson. I've known the guy since I was 11 or 12 and he was best friends with the guy who lived across the street from me at my old house. Kinda hard not to cheer for someone you've known for more than half of your life.

They don't need to tear down Tiger Stadium. All the stuff you read is bull. If you went down there, there is nothing else around. NOTHING, besides Slows BBQ anyway. If they want to build, they should just build somewhere else. Believe me Detroit has a lot of areas they can change.
