Batterie light

My battery light came on today but the car feels the same. I did notice that the voltage did go down but its within the normal section. Is it the battery? Thanx

I would hate to know that my alternator is going out. Help!

Have the voltage on the battery tested and the alternator voltage tested. Someone can chime in as to what the specs should be.

The majority of vehicles that come into work with a battery light on would be the alternator going bad cause it is not putting out proper voltage.

The only vehicles I've seen where the battery light may come on on when the battery is bad has been any dodge/chrysler 01-05.

the alternator output should be between 13.5 -14.3 volts anything less then the alternator is bad

Well coming back from work my headlights dimmed alot, the speedo and tach read zero and my stereo kept turning off and on. So I guess i need a new alternator. How much are they by the way?

I think pepboys now sell the 160-200amp alternators. You can always check on ebay also. here is one

Start your car and us a multimeter on your alt. ground to the alt it self and lift the rubber cover off the nut and touch that see if it is putting out 13+ volts. High voltage is bad too, means a bad regulator. If that goes it can run up to 110 volts
