I replaced the battery tray in my 87 GT tonight. One that was in there looked great, polished and everything, but the fitment was never right, always a little high. So I ordered a stock replacement battery tray from CJ Pony Parts and installed it but when I dropped my OPTIMA Red Top group 34/70 battery back in it, it’s almost like the battery is too small. The hold down block, even at its lowest point doesn’t come in contact with the battery, hence it is not secure. Anyone ever run into this problem, and if so, what did you do about it.

Sounds like you don't have the snap-in adapters attached to the base of the battery. A 34/78 fits fine in the stock battery tray with the adapters.

Snap in adapters? WTF? Definitely don’t have them. Never even knew they existed. But that makes sense. Thank you man.

Ok. See what you mean. They are called snap in wing adapters. Anybody know where I could get them. Checked eBay and Amazon. Nothing. Probably gonna have to contact Optima directly.
