Hello all,
I have a 98 mustang GT, the battery keeps dying . This all started about a month ago. What seems like the blinker went nuts (without even turning them on). One day when I went to start her I put the key on and heard a blinker sound and it was blinking fast, now the battery drains when I leave the car parked? Super frustrating cause just when I fix something and I'm all happy.. another part gets jealous and breaks!
Does anyone have any idea what could cause this or, has it happened to any of you?

Do you have a Volt-Ohm meter (VOM) and are you willing to use it?

This could be:
  • bad ignition switch
  • bad electronic flasher
  • wiring fault
  • or perhaps 1000 other things that it will take some trouble shooting to narrow down
Do you have any evidence of water or rodent activity? Water leakage behind the dash?

Test for +12 volts in I/P fuse #1. Use a known good ground. We want to confirm there's NO VOLTAGE with the key off. Then confirm there is 12 volts with the key in "run".

Or pull I/P #4 when the car is off to see if this stops the battery from draining.

It may take a fair number of tries before locating the source of the power draw. Next to body wiring harness faults these can be hard.
