Now I’m fit to be tied. Sure enough, the green fusible link crumbled apart in my hands.

I replaced it with a new one, and I also replaced the alternator, because I didn't like the diode test readings I got, and because it failed the tests AND stalled the drives at two different testers at different stores. It was making a bad scraping noise inside. it, I'll put a new one in. It charges perfectly, it's connected properly including the stator wire, I've replaced that fusible link, but...the goddamned battery light is still on.

I decided that before I go any further, I better degrease everything. Now my house reeks LOL

The alternator is charging the battery at 14.5x volts at idle, both unloaded and with every electrical load I can throw at it, so it would seem the regulator is getting signal and functioning correctly, no?

The battery light situation seems to be fixed now. I may not have had the stator wire properly seated after I did the fusible link and alternator work.

Make sure that the charge wire from the alternator, the 4 AWG wire connected to the stud, is clean & tight. If it gets loose, alternator diodes will blow.

Yes. Even though there's a factory voltmeter in the cluster, theres also an idiot light. It comes on in red, an outline of a battery.
