I'm planning to relocate the battery in the trunk. My question is what fuse should I use for the starter wire and generally what is used to fuse all the positive wires from the battery? Any ready-made fusible links, fuse boxes etc.?

These items are normally not fused.

Really? I don't like the idea of such fat wire running unfused for 8 feet....

the best way to deal with the starter cable, is to mount the starter solenoid next to the battery in the trunk and wire it to the starter as normal. that way the cable is dead until you activate the solenoid to start the engine. you can also mount the fuse box next to the battery as well when you rewire the car.

Here's one way to wire it w/o having a hot wire running the length of the car. If you follow the diagrams at the bottom of the page it should only be hot during start. I think because the starter can pull such a high load during use that you can trip most any rated circuit breaker out there. Remember it can take more juice when the motors hot or it's colder outside, etc.

Thank you all. I think I will install a relay in the trunk.
