I have an '86 LX coupe factory 4 cyl blah blah blah. You know the how the rest goes, anywho I was wondering how streetable a coupe would be with a 429cj in it? I can get an engine for like 300.00 with the following ......... .030-.040 bore stock stroke, minor work to the heads (machine shop just cleaned them up)low rise stock intakeand what sounds like a pretty beefy cam, all still bolted to a c6 I think. For the engine to be fully opperational it needs a carb, lower distributor cup, oil pan for a fox, and the propper pick up tube. Sound good or should I stick with a small block?
If this dont belong in tech then either move it or give everyone a free post.

429? holly moley.. i'd imagine that thing weighs hella of lot more than my 408. why not p/u a 351 and stroke it?

The reason behind the 429 is that it and the tranny are $300.00. I would be out that just for a 351 to rebuild, let along the approx 4 grand to get everything I need (including machine work) to stroke it.

Well unless I can find another BB my hopes are shot. The jerk off who had the 429 sold it out from under me this morning. Dang idiot.... told him yesterday that I would get it from him this week end and he traded it for what nothing.... He owed a guy exactly $300.00 and in stead of selling me the engine like he said he would he traded it off.
