300 seems pretty steep for a set of valve covers... FMS ones are around $100 and i bought a set from summit racing for like $60 that are plain.

Don't waste your time on a Phenolic spacer unless you need the clearance. They don't do much.

+1 to that, and also make sure you have the clearance with your hood. ive had both edelbrock rpm II and trick flow R series intakes and if i didnt have a 2.5 inch cowl there would be no way the hood would be closing.

as for the fabbed aluminum covers... just get a set and drill a hole for a fill cap or breather in them, its not that difficult, and if you dont feel comfortable with that then take it to a local machine shop and have them put the hole it. Something like that would cost $20 to $30 bucks max.

Ive got a 4 inch cowl hood so clearance is not a problem . Already got spacer just can make up mind on valve covers . Canton sell a nice set of polished alum ones for half the money of BBK .

I had a tall set of fabricated valve covers that I need to clear my Harland Sharp roller rockers.........butthen I needed a 1" spacer (more $) and a bigger hood (more $) and then when I bolted on my Paxton the valve covers due their boxy design wouldn't clear the intake tube so I had to change them out. (more $)

FYI

1993ssp i wonder if those will clear my intake? Ive been lookin at those to . I dont have much clearance on passenger side and the spacer is only 3/8 thick .The only one i could find for SSI intake .

I would have no clue, that would be a chance you would have to take. I'd thought about those as well, but like you, I am afraid they may not clear my intake.
