BBK Long tube headers hitting steering shaft

My BBK long tube headers seem to be dinging up against my steering shaft. It only happens in reverse. Maybe I'm getting contact somewhere else, but I suspect it's the steering shaft.

Any suggestions on how to get a little more clearance? Any aftermarket shafts clear it up? I'd rather not ding in the primary. But is that the only option?

Don't put it in reverse

Only in reverse?? I suspect you have a broken motor mount. I have Pacesetter long tubes and a Flaming River shaft that replaces the OEM rag joint, plenty of clearance............

If memory serves me...usually its reverse that shows a mount is busted... Have someone watch the motor when you use it...she should lift right up...

That would be weird. I had the motor installed by a decent shop just a couple weeks ago and asked them to look at the mounts (no better time to replace than while there's no motor in there). And they said they were fine. Is it possible to have broken mounts but not be able to see it (WITH NO MOTOR INSTALLED!)?
