I am going to order a set of BBK Longtubes with their offroad H-pipe. What are your opinions of these? Also, how intense is the install for these compared to shorties?

BBK headers and midpipes fit good.

the install isnt bad, its just time consuming. remove the k-member, reuse all the stock studs and nuts, use stock header gaskets, and be patient.

support the engine (preferably from the top)
remove front brakes, abs sensors, spindles, spings
remove m/m nuts
remove steering shaft from rack
remove rack and tie it up out of the way (leave p/s attached)
remove 8 k-member to frame bolts and drop the k straight down

dropping the k member is the easy part, you can have it out in an hour using hand tools.

you can also lift the engine a little insted of removing the k memember if I remember correctly. I know my mech said it was a pain in the @ss but I will tell you it was worth it.

I have the BBK LT headers and the BBK o/r x-pipe...and the sound is mean!
Regarding, the installation of the LT headers I have to say that it is a real PITA and time consuming. I had them installed at a mufflers shop for $300. It them about 8 hours to complete the install. Good luck!

A Ford tech friend of mine and I installed this same set up at his shop. Took us about 4-4.5 hours total on a lift. Was a PITA!! Patience is the key if doing this yourself. In this case, however, your rewards are worth every knuckle-crackin', wrench-throwin' minute

the hardest part is gettin all the bolt on in the headers. I just put my hookers on last weekend. The K member is easy youll need to make your hands small if you can't do this you'll need someone with small hands. I don't know why they don't add small hands to the required tools list. Also I put a jack with wood on it under the oil pan to support the engine instead of renting a engine hoist.
